An Introduction To Nintendo System

nintendo game system
In this generation of entertainment world, there’s too many competition due to new technology release, the effect of character reality in games, and many more. Sony (SNE) the producer of Nintendo faces much stiffer competition. While the Nintendo name is most closely associated with a video game platform, the company’s real focus has always been the games rather than the platform. Nintendo seeks to make good games, while other competitors seek to control a distribution channel.
Nintendo is the only company among the three console makers that began life as an entertainment company and it shows. The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was released by Nintendo in North America, Europe and Australia in 1985. In most of Asia, including Japan, Philippines, China, Vietnam and Singapore, it was released as the Family Computer and in Southern Asia (such as India), it was known as the Tata Famicom. It was succeeded by the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Nintendo is the only company among the three console makers that began life as an entertainment company – and it shows. Microsoft is known for software; Sony is known for hardware; and Nintendo is known for games. When Nintendo released the NES in the United States, the design styling was deliberately different from that of other game consoles. Nintendo wanted to distinguish its product from those of competitors, and to avoid the generally poor reputation that game consoles had acquired following the video game crash of 1983.
All of the Famicom systems used standard card edge connectors, as did Nintendo’s subsequent game consoles, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the Nintendo 64.
Nintendo has a larger market cap than Electronic Arts, because Nintendo (the business) is worth more than EA (the business). The run-up in Nintendo’s stock price may be entirely due to improved investor perceptions of the company’s future prospects as a result of the good press surrounding Nintendo’s soon to be launched console, the Nintendo Wii.
Regardless, such an increase in the price of Nintendo’s shares was justified by the rather low value the market had previously placed on Nintendo’s business. Nintendo has been a good steward of its intellectual properties.
Nintendo’s position in hardware has been declining for well over a decade now. In fact, the zenith of Nintendo’s fortunes in the console business was the NES itself (launched in 1985). It’s been downhill since then. Nintendo launched the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1991, the Nintendo 64 (N64) in 1996, and the GameCube in 2001.
