Nintendo revolution history, start with the company named Nintendo Company Ltd. Nintendo Company Ltd. is a multinational corporation located in Kyoto, Japan founded on September 23, 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi as a Hanafuda playing card manufacturer. Each card was hand crafted and painted, and then sold in Nintendo stores in Kyoto and Osaka.
After several years, Nintendo became the first Japanese company to manufacture and successfully sell western-style playing cards. It was on 1902. Following the adoption of Nintendo cards by the Yakuza in high-stake gambling games.
In 1963, the company name is changed to the current Nintendo Co., Ltd. Part of the reason for the change was to allow the company to expand into other products. They began to experiment on other business such as food business, hotel, taxi firm, and a TV network. In 1973, Nintendo bought up several abandoned bowling alleys in Japan and converted them to the Laser Clay Shooting System – large-scale versions of the Beam Gun games. Nintendo developed several more light gun machines for the emerging arcade scene.
In 1977, Nintendo started to create their first home videogame system, the Color TV Game 6. A year later, they released their first videogame arcade systems (Computer Othello and Block Fever).
1980, Gunpei Yokoi created the first portable LCD videogame featuring a microprocessor called Game & Watch. Following a tough year, Nintendo of America requested a game to replace the failing Radarscope. So they developed a new game called Donkey Kong, Nintendo’s first international smash hit. The game introduced two of Nintendo’s most enduring characters, Mario and Donkey Kong, as well as changing the fortunes of the company. Well that the first big step of Nintendo history.

Nintendo released their first home video game cartridge system called Family Computer (Famicom) on 1983. When its promoted into United State, this game cartridge system was changed into Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) on 1985. And by that time Nintendo releases Super Mario Bros in Japan and the United States. And that game became a worldwide smash hit and even became legendary.
In 1989, the technology had become more advanced. Nintendo releases their first portable handheld videogame cartridge system, the Game Boy. Well that’s the first video game I had when I was child. Next video game system was released on 1996 with 3Dgraphics capabilities called Nintendo 64, along with Super Mario 64.
Step in 20th century, Game Boy has upgraded into Game Boy Advance, the 32 bit portable handheld video game system launched on 2001. Moving 3 years later, Nintendo released Nintend DS, the handheld video game system with more features than before on 2004.
In 2005, The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection wireless internet service is launched. Start from that year, many of free online games releases and Nintendo became more famous. In 2006, Nintendo releases their fifth home videogame system, Nintendo Wii. Featuring a motion-sensing remote, wi-fi internet access, downloadable “channels” and classic games, the system further pushes Nintendo’s effort to create new game experiences. The Wii primarily competes with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3. As of December 31, 2008 the Nintendo Wii has leads the generation over the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in worldwide sales.
